9:30-10:30 am | Sunday School
Currently there are two adult Sunday school classes:
1. Adult Bible Study Class: Discussion of the lectionary text, Mark 8:27-38 and an exploration of the lesson, “Be Bold to Join“, Luke 7:36-50, from the Salt & Light fall curriculum, God’s Approachable Community, by Reta Halteman Finger.
2.“ Welcome!,” a Sunday school class exploring the book, Fusion: Turning First Time Guests Into Fully Engaged Members of Your Church, by Nelson Searcy (Baker, 2017). We will be discussing this book, sharing our own experiences, and developing ways to help AMC welcome guests. High school and above are welcome.
Children and youth are not currently meeting on Sunday morning. Once a month we have a family friendly event on Saturday morning where we sing songs, tell a Bible story, have fun activities. We are meeting Saturday, September 18, 2021, 10:00 – 11:30 am. We start at the front of the church then make our way to the fenced playground at the center of the church buildings. Children and adults of all ages enjoy the time together.
11:00 am | Worship
Worship at AMC is sort of traditional. We begin with a gathering song and a call to worship and a prayer. We sing another song or two, read a scripture, and have a children’s story. Even with virtual worship we have an offering where generosity is encouraged and more music is presented. We read scripture and hear a sermon, usually from the pastor, or sometimes from a member of the congregation, or a guest speaker. We share joys and concerns, pray aloud or in silence and then say the Lord’s Prayer together. We share announcements then close with a song and few words of sending. When we have communion on the first Sunday of the month we invite everyone to participate if they like. Here’s a sample of some our musicians singing during virtual worship. The songs are prerecorded.
